Dated October 28, 1928, exactly 86 years ago was born a great idea that should have shaped the life of the Indonesian people for the better today.

               That is the text of “Sumpah Pemuda”, which for the first time echoed in Jakarta on 28 October 1928. It was an historic day for the people of Indonesia in moving national revival. At the same time unifying the nation unites youth from various ethnicities and religions.

               We must learn from the “Sumpah Pemuda”, because behind that sentence beads are an invaluable historical record. The beads in the “Sumpah Pemuda” is not merely prepared to answer questions from the youth for independence from the colonial time. But more than that, the spirit of “Sumpah Pemuda” that continue to exist in the hearts of the young man.

               We know the youth of yore struggle to achieve independence, vigorously. Sacrificing property, objects, and even family. They are unwilling to sacrifice everything, because they have a heart. Hearts that leads them to think ahead. Hearts which makes them unwilling struggle without expecting recompense. Because they just want to fight for us. So that we do not hear the sound of the shotgun blast. So that we do not hear the thump of bombs. Because they are very fiery spirit and never tireless. We can now finally breathe a breath of independence.

               But what about the youth of today? Do they appreciate the services of the youth of old? Given alone may not have time. Moreover, should appreciate them. So what are the youth to do now? What youth do now? They can only sue the state. They can only ask the state for the better. But if they are giving something back to the country? Or maybe they could just ask? Can not you give? I do not know. I'm sure you want to give something. But maybe you confused want to give what and how.

               Let us think together. Thinking to give something to this nation. Thinking to give something even if only for a drop of water. A drop of water that will be very beneficial to a tree on dry land if we do it together.

               Let us think together. Let us act together. Giving even just a little. Achievement although not holding a medal. Let us strive, do a conscience so that we may become a useful human being. And can liberation of Indonesia in real independence.

               Because Indonesia is not fully independent. Indonesia is not yet independent in the form of mental or mind. It's been a long time we were independent of physical possessions. But it turns out we are not free form of mental or mind. Because it seems to be invaders of our friend, but it turns out he stabs us from behind.

               It is our sad fate. Trying to make friends with anyone, but as they take advantage of our weakness. Like to invite a friend to help you love someone. But instead he secretly been dating with people we love.

               Are you going to continue like this? The young man that I know do not like this before. The young man who had never weak like this. I know the young man who had never tired of fighting for independence.

               Are you tired now? Or you bored? Did you never think how tired fighters had attacked the invaders without expecting anything in return a penny. Do you not think, just how bored they must set various tactics, chased and forced to kill for the sake of the country. They know it's a sin, but they will be sinning if an invader, colonize and destroy this country.
We as the youth of Indonesia should be able to light a fire spirit to achieve real independence. And this modern days we also have to think critically in response to a problem like the first young men to think quickly to determine preparation for independence.

               Let us open our eyes, to appreciate the fighters and youths. Although we do can only learn and learn. So that we will not be colonized again. So that we will not be abused again.

               We are a big country. We are a country that is dignified. Let us show them that we are already independent. Instead of replying to insult them. And a waste of time to look for their weaknesses. We must continue to strive with a conscience. We can because we kept fighting and trying.

               We have many ways to be free. We have many ways to go forward. We have many cultures. We have many natural resources. That's the way we are. God has given, just how we act. We must act with a sense of responsibility.

               And if we do all of that according to your heart. In the end we will be able to be what our conscience wants. I'm sure these people will not be colonized again. I'm sure this nation will achieve real independence. This nation will never be abused again. This nation would be smart in everything.

            Come friend us learn and become what our conscience wants. Because conscience will never lie to us. He will never get us. Because I believe our hearts are our heroes.
